Sicherheit & Vertrauen
- Indexierung (noindex, robots.txt)
- Seitentitel (Title-Tag) und Meta-Description
- Hauptüberschrift (H1) und XML-Sitemap
- Darstellung auf dem Smartphone (Viewport)
- Bildbeschreibungen (Alt-Texte)
- Vorschau beim Teilen (Open Graph) und Favicon
Ladegeschwindigkeit
- First Contentful Paint (FCP): Wann erscheint überhaupt etwas?
- Total Blocking Time (TBT): Reagiert die Seite flott auf Klicks?
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Springt der Inhalt beim Laden?
E-Mail-Schutz
- DMARC: Was passiert mit gefälschten E-Mails?
Technik & Erreichbarkeit

Was passiert mit meinen Daten?

Check your website in one minute – everything important at a glance
Today a website has to do many things at once: be secure, be found on Google, load fast, protect emails against forgery and meet legal requirements. Many free tools only check one of these areas. The Website Check by DBM Webdesign & Online-Marketing checks all six areas in one go – with more than 30 checkpoints, free of charge and without sign-up. You get the result as an easy-to-read report with a traffic-light rating instead of jargon.

Security & trust
Check website security: SSL certificate, HTTPS and outdated software
If an SSL certificate has expired or is faulty, browsers show a clear warning – and most visitors leave right away. Google has also used HTTPS as a ranking signal since 2014. Our SSL check therefore not only checks whether your certificate is valid and when it expires, but also whether every visitor really ends up on the encrypted version.
- Validity and expiry date of the SSL certificate
- Redirect from http:// to https://
- Outdated encryption (TLS 1.0 and 1.1)
- Content loaded without encryption (mixed content)
- Outdated WordPress version
- Additional security headers (as a notice)
Getting found on Google (SEO)
Free SEO check: is your website found on Google?
Great content is of little use if Google doesn't understand it properly. The free SEO check covers the basics that matter for every website: may Google index the page at all? Is there a meaningful page title and a description for the search results? And because Google mainly evaluates the mobile version of a page (mobile-first indexing), we also check how it looks on a smartphone.
- Indexing (noindex, robots.txt)
- Page title (title tag) and meta description
- Main heading (H1) and XML sitemap
- Smartphone display (viewport)
- Image descriptions (alt texts)
- Preview when sharing (Open Graph) and favicon
Loading speed
Test your loading time: how fast is your website on mobile?
Slow pages cost visitors and enquiries. For the measurement we use Google PageSpeed Insights, Google's free measuring tool, and measure the way a visitor experiences your site on a smartphone. Instead of a jungle of numbers, you get a clear assessment of the most important values around the Core Web Vitals.
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): when is the main content visible? Google recommends 2.5 seconds at most.
- First Contentful Paint (FCP): when does anything appear at all?
- Total Blocking Time (TBT): does the page respond quickly to clicks?
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): does the content jump while loading?
Email protection
Check SPF, DKIM and DMARC: protection against spoofed emails
Fraudsters can send emails that look as if they came from your domain – fake invoices to your customers, for example. With the DNS records SPF, DKIM and DMARC you define who may send in your name and what happens to forgeries. If they are missing, your genuine emails also end up in spam more often. Since February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo have required these records from senders who send large volumes of email.
- SPF: which servers may send for your domain?
- DKIM: digital signature – we look for it at well-known providers and under common selectors
- DMARC: what happens to spoofed emails?
Technology & availability
Technical check: redirects, error page and server response time
Many problems are invisible at first glance: is the site reachable under one clear address with and without “www”? Do redirects take unnecessary detours? Does a page that doesn't exist return a real error – or does it confuse Google? The technical check uncovers such weak spots before they cost you visitors or rankings.
- Single address (with/without www, http/https)
- Redirect chains
- Real 404 error page
- Server response time (TTFB)
- Data compression (e.g. gzip, Brotli)
- Modern transfer (HTTP/2, HTTP/3)
Legal & GDPR
GDPR check: legal notice, privacy policy and tracking before consent
Legal warnings over data protection violations are a real risk for website operators in Germany. A well-known example: in 2022 the Munich Regional Court I awarded a visitor 100 euros in damages because a website had loaded Google Fonts from Google's servers without consent (case no. 3 O 17493/20). Our GDPR check therefore opens your site in a real browser, clicks nothing in the cookie banner and records which third-party services are loaded before consent.
- Legal notice (Impressum) linked – required under § 5 DDG
- Privacy policy linked
- Tracking before consent (e.g. Google Analytics, Meta Pixel)
- Google Fonts and other fonts from third-party servers
- Other external services before consent
The check is no substitute for legal advice, but it shows typical legal risks at a glance.

Frequently asked questions about the Website Check
Is the Website Check really free?
Yes. The Website Check is free and can be used without sign-up – there is no account and no subscription. If you like, you can also have the report sent to you by email.
How long does the check take?
Usually about a minute. Most checks run at the same time; the speed measurement via Google PageSpeed Insights takes longest.
Which websites can I check?
Any publicly accessible website you are allowed to have checked – for example as the owner or on the owner's behalf. Internal addresses (such as in a company network) are not checked.
What happens to my data?
The report is stored for 30 days so that you can open it again via the link or the reference code, and is then deleted automatically. To protect against misuse, we also log the IP address, browser identifier and the checked address – this log is also deleted automatically after 30 days. We only store your email address if you write to us or agree to be contacted.
Why does the measured loading time differ from other measurements?
Loading times vary with server load, network and the time of measurement. We measure with Google PageSpeed Insights in the mobile view. Other tools often measure on desktop or from other locations and therefore arrive at different values.
How is the score calculated?
Every checkpoint is weighted into a score from 0 to 100. From 90 points a website counts as excellent, from 75 as good, from 50 as needing work. With serious problems – such as tracking without consent or missing encryption – the result is at most 59 points, even if everything else is fine.
Does the GDPR check replace legal advice?
No. The check shows typical technical risks such as tracking or Google Fonts before consent and missing mandatory information. It does not replace a legal review of the individual case.
Can you fix the problems found?
Yes. As an agency for web design and online marketing we take care of security, SEO, loading time, email settings and data protection. Simply write to us using the form below your report – we will get back to you with a no-obligation assessment.
